Degenerated Tarot

I admit, I use generative AI tools a lot. Having a handy sounding board that lets me bounce ideas around at any time and in as much depth as I want feels incredible, albeit overwhelming at times. What used to be some scribbled ideas to explore in some undefined future (because of, you know, time and mental energy) are now almost instant explorations resulting in quick prototypes.

But all these questions that I ask these LLMs sometimes make me feel like I’m a helpless human who wouldn’t get very far on my own. Somehow I connected this endless questioning to how we treat Tarot (not the game but the divinatory practice), helpless questions cast into the universe, trying to find answers wherever, however we can.

So I thought it’d be funny to make a Tarot deck that’s just tired of how helpless humans are and doesn’t hide its disdain for us in its answers (created with the help of genAI).

I focused on the Major Arcana (22 cards).

Deal your doom, meatbags.
